Red Velvet Singer Wendy On Going Solo: ‘I Had To Believe Myself’
A little over a year ago, K-pop superstar Wendy, better known for her work with the South Korean girl group Red Velvet, had a terrible accident. While rehearsing on stage, the performer fell nearly a story, fracturing several bones in the process. The incident sidelined her for months, and for some musicians, losing that momentum may have derailed their career. Thankfully, not only is Wendy back, she’s returned in triumph.
For her first release since her fall, Wendy has gone out on her own with her debut solo EP Like Water. Already a bestseller, fans are welcoming the singer back with open arms, and she’s more than happy to be back.
I spoke with Wendy about how she chose her solo sound, what the title means to her and the unexpected opportunity that taking some time off provided for her.
