Grammys 2021: Angry BTS Fans Make 'Scammys' Trend As K-pop Band's Dynamite Fails to Win
The seven-member group had hoped to pull off a victory for pop duo/group performance for the No. 1 single Dynamite.

K-pop sensation BTS’ fans got hashtag “scammys" trending on social media Sunday ahead of the 2021 Grammy Awards to express their outrage that RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook lost the award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance to Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande, who were nominated for “Rain on Me."
“Rain on me? Really? I’d rather drown. Anyway get Dynamite to 1B!! #scammys," one BTS stan wrote, with another adding, “Bts doesn’t need the grammys but the grammys need bts #scammys." “As usual they want to increase the number of years they can use bts’s validity to boost their own viewership," another chimed in. “I don’t care about the #scammys but I hate that the boys feel like their worth is measured by their acknowledgment."
This year was BTS’ second Grammy nomination, but the first for their music (the group was nominated for best recording package in 2019, an award presented for the visual look of an album.) A win tonight would have been a historic first for the global phenomenon.
